Monday, July 13, 2015

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team brought glory to themselves and to America during the World Cup final recently with a 5-2 defeat of Japan. The team set women's final records for most goals scored and largest margin of victor, and The United States became the first nation to capture three women's World Cup titles.

What makes this victory even more significant is the number of people who watched - an estimated 23 million by the end of the match according to FOX sports, which provided the telecast, exceeding the television dudiences for the recent championship finals in both the NBA and the NHL's Stanley. Telemundo also set a record for the most-watched game of a women's World Cup in U.S. Spanish-language TV.
