Check local stores first

Friday, August 7, 2015

The sales tax holiday Aug. 7 and 8 on certain items of clothing is promoted as a way to help families save money during back-to-school shopping, although the exemption from sales tax applies whether an item is purchased for an adult or a child.

We would suggest that shoppers take advantage of this event in Cherokee County as much as possible. For those who decide to go to a larger town to have a larger selection or as a family excursion, we would suggest stopping by a store or stores in Cherokee County first and buy what can be purchased locally.

This includes items that qualify for the tax exemption as well as other items that are likely to purchased during the shopping trip.

Happy shopping.
