Alta-Aurelia VB goes to 5-1 with win over Sioux Central
ALTA - The Alta- Aurelia Warriors improved their record to 5-1 in this early volleyball season with a 3-1 win here Thursday over Twin Lakes Conference rival Sioux Central, winning by game scores of 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 27-25.
Alta-Aurelia Coach Jeanie Henningsen commented, "What an intense match we had tonight. It was a back -and forth- game all night. We had girls step up and play through some tough situations. Erin Lockin was awesome all over the court and got us some great kills. Izzy Hinkeldey was a force at the net again. She had some key kills and blocks to give us momentum. Brittany Turnquist came off the bench and did a super job in the back row. This was a great team win."
Hinkeldey had 14 kills for the Warriors and Lauren Rohwer added 11 kills of her own. Erin Lockin was 19-22 serving with two aces and also had 17 digs; Hinkeldey was 16-17 serving with three aces; Micah Barnes was 15-19 with six aces and led the team with 20 digs, while her sister Mary added 12 digs. Annika Patton was a oerfect 13-13 serving and had nine digs, and Laney Slaton was also perfect with 9-9 serves, including one ace, and she had eight digs. Lauren Rohwer had four ace serves.
The Warriors play at Manson Northwest Webster on Tuesday.
