Thanks for seeking office

Monday, April 4, 2016

Of the five Cherokee County offices up for election in 2016, three will be challenged in the primary, the general election, or both. These include the sheriff (Dave Scott is not seeking reelection) and two of the county board of supervisors seats.

For two county offices, the incumbents are running unopposed for re-election -- the auditor and one supervisor seat. It is understandable not to oppose officials who are doing their jobs well, but incumbents who are challenged should not take offense at being asked to compete to keep their positions.

We appreciate the interest of those seeking public office.
