Mongan named supervisor chair
The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors named Rick Mongan as chairman of the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors for 2017 at the organizational meeting on Jan. 3. Gary Lundquist was elected vice chair.
The regular meetings of the supervisors will continue to be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays. Kris Glienke, county auditor, will continue to serve as clerk to the board.
The Chronicle Times and the Marcus News were named as official publications for the county. Due to the change in ownership of the Aurelia Star, arrangements for legal notice publication in that newspaper are pending.
Some annual appointments made by the board were reappointments of individuals already serving in those capacities, such as Larry Walker as weed commissioner, Dean Schmidt as zoning administrator and Dr. Timothy Rice as medical examiner (2 year term).
A letter from Karen Aduddell, clerk of the Cherokee Aviation Authority, informed the board that Mike ONeal has resigned from the Cherokee Aviation Authority Board of Directors and the recommendation from the aviation board was to name David Kastengren to replace him. The supervisors voted to approve Kastengren to replace ONeal for the duration of the term which expires in 2019.
