Jobs well done

It should be noted that the yeoman work put in by the City of Cherokee’s Street Department and private contractors during the last major snowfall of 12+ inches has drawn rave reviews from those who must traverse our streets in the wake of such inclement weather and its many problems.

Most telling was the appearance of a UPS driver at the Cherokee Street Department shop who went out of his way to stop and thank the street crews for their “outstanding” job of clearing the streets compared to other area towns he travels in.

This speaks volumes of the quality and work ethic of our City and employees in all departments, most notably the Street Department, which must do the heavy lifting to keep our roads safe and clear as best they can with the usual slim work force and bare necessities in equipment.

We are fortunate to have Street Superintendent Todd Larsen, Public Works Director Armond Rider, and City Administrator Sam Kooiker and their dependable staffs at the helm to guide this community when the rubber meets the road at all hours day or night.

Please take the time to thank them when you see all our dedicated municipal employees.
