Freedom Rock a County gem

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

We hope as many area residents as possible made an attempt to attend Sunday’s dedication of the Cherokee Freedom Rock at the County Courthouse in Cherokee.

The amazing military monument located in a perfect setting in front of the courthouse is a marvelous tribute to our military veterans, the dedicated volunteers who located and moved the huge stone to its rightful place, to all those contributing to defray the expenses involved in the laborious task, and to Iowa artist Bubba Sorensen and his incredible talents to conceive and paint the rock in such stunning, appropriate, historic fashion.

As all military monuments should, Cherokee’s Freedom Rick will stand proud and noble far into the future for generations to come.

And we pray that all those who follow fully appreciate what it stands for and the sacfrifices of so many devoted and courageous Americans to ensure our freedoms we must never take for granted.

Rock on, Bubba!
