Cherokee blanks Spencer in volleyball match

CHEROKEE - The Cherokee volleyball team hosted Spencer Tuesday,  and the Braves beat the Tigers 3-0, winning the first set 25-21, the second set 25-9, and the third set 25-16.

Kassidy Pingel led the Braves in kills with eight, while  Alayne Graybill had six.  Lily Anderson contributed 16 assists to the win, and  she also went 15 - 16 with two aces from the service line.  Graybill was 10-11 serving with two aces;  Alexus Jones was 7 - 7 with one ace; and Payton Slaughter was 7 - 9 from the service line.  Defensively, Alayne Graybill led in digs with 10, while Slaughter and Jones rach had nine digs; and  Kassidy Pingel had three solo blocks.

Cherokee coach Charity Anderson said, "We came out ready to play tonight.  We went up right away on Spencer and we were able to stay on top the rest of the night."  

With the win, the Braves improved their record to 18-7 overall, and they are undefeated in Lakes Conference play.  The Braves traveled to LeMars for another conference matchup on Thursday.
