Annual ‘Friends’ event major fundraiser for library

The Cherokee Friends of the Library Book Baskets are being prepared for display at the library for the 18th annual Book Basket Project.

Area library supporters have been bringing in their basket projects for the Friends to wrap, but there is still time to bring a book basket in! The Friends would like all baskets to be at the Library by Monday, October 30. The baskets will then be on display at the Library from Wednesday, November 1 until noon on Saturday, December 2.

Individuals and organizations have assembled book baskets, each of which has a theme. The baskets contain a book as well as a variety of theme based items. These popular and fun baskets provide a variety of options for holiday gift giving.

During the month these baskets are on display, the public is invited to visit the library and browse the diverse selection of baskets. A silent auction bid for the baskets can be made on the clipboard next to each basket.

The bidding will close at noon on Saturday, December 2. At that time, the final person listed on the bid sheet will receive that basket for the amount they bid.

The Friends hope everyone will take time to stop at the Cherokee Library after November 1 and check out the beautiful display of book baskets.

The Friends of the Library is an organization committed to assisting the Cherokee Library in purchasing items necessary to enhance the library services in our community. The Holiday Book Basket Project is their major fundraising project each year.

The Friends also will be hosting the Friday Cherokee Chanber Coffee Nov. 17.
