Special lady leaves a void
We share with many the celebration of Joan Ballantyneís distinguished 70-year career as a Cherokee realtor, business person, and significant community contributor.
Born and raised in Cherokee, Joan has made her time in this community count, choosing to live and grow here while contributing and giving back in countless ways - both personally and professionally.
An elite professional from the get-go, Joan Ballantyne proved time and again that knowledge, involvement, and a can-do attitude are paramount in society.
Joan exudes competency because she has done her homework. Always. She wakes up each day excited to go to work and meet head-on any challenges that may surface. Her clients were her passion and all who know her appreciate and admire her business acumen.
In our many dealings with Joan through the years, we found her accessible, extremely forthright and candid, and, above all, well-informed and kind.
She was a total team player with the ability to lead, follow, or get out of the way, if need be.
We need more Joan Ballantynes whoi lead by example. We need women like her on our committees, in local goverment, in education, in business, in our churches, and in our neighborhoods.
Despite having many opportunities, Joan Ballantyne devoted her lengthy 69-year career to the town she unconditionally loved and never left.
There will be an Open House honoring Joan Thursday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Gathering Place in downtown Cherokee.
Letís pack the place.
