A-A boys shut out East Sac, 5-0, in District baseball

lALTA - The Alta-Aurelia baseball team posted a 5-0 win over East Sac County in the second round of Class 2A district baseball here Tuesday. The two teams had met previously this season with A-A winning the earlier contest by an 8-5 score.

Alex Snyder threw a complete game shutout, giving up four hits, striking out 15, and walking just one batter.all 7 innings and struck out 15 batters and gave up 4 hits and walked 1.

Keaton Mork slugged a double drove in four runs for the Warriors, while Kaleb Sleeezer drove in the team’s other run. The Warriors drew seven bases on balls in addition to their seven hits.

Warriors’ coach Ryan Burkhart commented, “Alex Snyder was sharp again on the mound. He's having a great season, and all the strikeouts make it easy on the defense. We played great defense to back up Alex. I was also happy with how our guys battled at the plate against a good pitcher. It felt good to get that first playoff game under our belt. Now we get a few days to practice before the district championship game. This has been a fun group to coach all year. They are always relaxed and excited to play each day." 

The win boosted Alta-Aurelia’s season mark to 18-4, and they will host Unity Christian (19-9) in Alta tomorrow (Saturday) for the District championship.

Game time is 7 p.m.
