Timothy Monen passed away after his courageous battle with cancer at the VA Medical Center on November 24, 2018. He was 59 years young. A family directed memorial service will take place for Timothy on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Inwood, Iowa.
Tim was born on January 23, 1959 in Boise, Idaho to Alfred Jr. and Jean Monen. After graduating from Canton High School in 1977 Tim served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years. Shortly after he married Tracey Anderson and was blessed in this union with two daughters. He attended Lineman School at NITC in Sheldon, IA and graduated in 1985. Tim worked as a Journeyman Lineman for many years where he was able to see much of the country. He also worked as a wind turbine technician before retiring in January 2018.
Tim loved spending time with family and friends camping and fishing even though he said he wasn't any good at it. He was an avid antique collector and spent countless hours at auctions. He was also quite the handyman and could virtually fix anything with a little willpower and a lot of duct tape. He enjoyed watching his favorite football teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Iowa State Cyclones. Tim was truly one of a kind known for his big heart. His ability to bring a smile to your face and make you laugh was loved by many.
His memory will be cherished by his children Rachel, Jennifer and Jackie, his grandchildren Grahm, Leo, Joel and Jayda, aunts, uncles, nieces and many other family and friends including his special someone Willa Campbell.
Tim is preceded in death by his father Alfred Jr. (Bud) Monen.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorials to be directed to the family or donations to be made in his name to the VA Hospice Care.
