Sally L. Corrington
Sally L. Corrington, 87, of rural Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Friday afternoon, December 14, 2018 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
Visitation and a time of sharing memories with the family will be held on Saturday, December 22nd, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Sally was born January 13, 1931 at Cherokee, Iowa to Harry & Florence (Darling) Perrin. She graduated from Cherokee Wilson High School in 1949. She was married to Robert L. Corrington on October 18, 1951 at Cherokee, Iowa. She was a farm wife and homemaker until the death of her husband in 1972. She later worked for several places in Cherokee including Honsbruch Drug Store, Bigelow, Waller & Associates, and Rimmer Sales & Service for several years until her retirement.
Sally had been a member of Farm Bureau and the Pilot Pals. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an animal lover, especially her cats. She also liked watching the birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, and any other wildlife that wandered onto her farm. Over the years she did a lot of counted cross stitch and loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren in their activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert on September 19, 1972, a great grandson Wyatt Scott Sumner, and her beloved cat Dewey.
She is survived by her two children: Jim (Peggy) Corrington of Cherokee, Iowa; Valley Sue (Bill) Schwaller of Cherokee, Iowa; three grandchildren: Ashley (Chris) Gregory of Clive, Iowa; Thomas (Elizabeth) Corrington of St. Joseph, Missouri; Melanie (Matthew) Sumner of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and three great grandchildren: Amelia, Rosalyn, and Claire Gregory.
