Chuck Wulfsen, President at Central Bank is pleased to announce that the Dr. John W. Dewar Scholarship has extended its scholarship award to McKayla Benson for the 2018-2019 school year. McKayla will receive $444.00, based on the current annual income of the trust administrated by Central Bank. This brings the total scholarship paid to date to $76,070.
The scholarship, awarded to Washington High School graduates, provides money for tuition over a four year-period, providing the recipient is a full-time student at an accredited collage, vocational school or other post-high school institution. A grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 must be maintained.
The parameters of the Dr. John W. Dewar Scholarship Fund, established in 1992, were determined in the will of the late Lois M. Dewar. A scholarship committee appointed by the superintendent of schools makes selections. The award is based on academic achievement and financial need.
McKayla is attending South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. She is the daughter of Mark and Shelley Benson.
