Golf Braves Lose Home Triangular

Cherokee’s golf Braves, playing their first home meet here in over two years, finish third in a triangular meet here Tuesday behind Spencer and Esterhville-Lincoln Central.

Ezra Myer of Spencer was medalist with a 37, while teammate Jaguar Halverson stroked a 39 for runner-up honors.

Carson Jenness was Cherokee top finisher, carding a 44, followed by teammates Jake Zwiefel 47, Carter Jacobson 48, Joe Benson 56, Dylan Hamilton 58 and Damon Williams 60.

Spencer won the meet with a 37, followed by E-LC with a 42 and Cherokee finished at 44.

“With a young team, there will be growing pains and we experienced some of that today,’ said Cherokee Coach James DeVos. “We’ll continue to prepare ourselves to be mentally ready for each shot and each hole,” he added.

In JV play, Cherokee scorers were Ty Westphal 55, Trey Benson 58, Calvin Brown 59, Grant Wulfsen 60, Nathaneal Reusch 67 and Treighton Schubert 71.

Upcoming meets for the Braves have the linksters at Holstein on Monday, while hosting meets on Tuesday and Friday of next week.
