Dana G. Williams, 63, of Ames, Iowa and formerly of Washta, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 28th, at 2 p.m. at the Washta United Methodist Church. Pastor Barb Dinelli will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in the Sunset View Cemetery at Washta, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday, September 27th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Dana was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on March 29, 1956, the son of Calvin G. and Virginia (Roberson) Williams.
Dana graduated from Willow Community High School, Quimby, Iowa in 1974. He was an employee at R. J. Thomas Manufacturing in Cherokee, Iowa before relocating to Nevada, Iowa. He was currently employed as a CNC Toolmaker, Shop Foreman at Ames Engineering, Ames, Iowa. He married Cathie Mitchell on August 24, 1996, in Nevada, Iowa.
Dana “Wedge” was an avid Harley Davidson rider and enjoyed numerous trips touring the Midwest on his “Road King.” There were many wonderful aspects to Dana’s life, and his family was very important to him. He loved family gatherings and his laugh and smile would light up a room. He will be remembered as a wonderful brother, husband, and a truly great friend to everyone. In every way, he made our lives richer and fuller.
He was predeceased by his wife Cathie in 2000 and his parents.
He is survived by his brothers Doug (Carol) Williams, Bellevue, NE; Dennis Williams, Cherokee, IA; a sister, Debbie (Pete) Anderson, Dover, NH; an uncle Harold Roberson, Cherokee, IA; nephews Robert (Lynne) Williams, Bellevue, NE; Chris (Becky) Anderson, Dover, NH; a niece, Jennifer (James) Grabowski, Bellevue, NE; many great-nieces and great-nephews, a special friend Faith Rau; step-children: Jeb Sigler, Jeremy Sigler, Michelle Thacker, and Ian Tye.
