6 Braves Make All-District
Six Cherokee football players earned Class 1A Northwest All-District honors, three on first team and three on the second team
First team selections were sophomore punter Mason Carver, and seniors Trevor Lundquist on defense and Ryan Hurd on offense.
Cherokee second team picks were seniors Carson Mongan and Kaleb McGee on defense, while junior Colton Woltman made the grade on offense.
Carver was the districtís leading punter with 19 punts for 739 yards for a 38.9 average per punt, his longest being 74 yards. Carver handled all kicking duties for the Braves, and finished with 1,080 yards on 27 kickoffs while making 14 of 20 point after attempts.
Lundquist spearheaded Cherokeeís defense this fall with a team leading 55 solo tackles and 16.5 tackle assists, while teammate Hurd led the Braves in receiving with 37 catches for 618 yards and seven touchdowns. Hurd, a Northwestern College basketball commit, also picked off four interceptions and returned them for 106 yards.
Morgan was a second team pick and finished the season with 17 solo tackles and 6.5 tackle assists with five tackles for losses. Morgan also caught seven passes this season for 61 yards. Woltman was second behind Hurd in receiving for the Braves, grabbing 17 aerials for 234 yards and five touchdowns, one for 32 yards.
McGee, who has set several weight lifting records at Washington High School, earned second team honors and finished with 21 tackles and 16.5 tackle assists.
Cherokee finished the season in Class 1A with a 2-7 record.
