The City of Cherokee has announced that applications are available for grants supporting tourism related events and projects in Cherokee.

This is an exciting program designed to assist a variety of organizations bring people to Cherokee for recreation, entertainment, education, shopping, dining and experiencing all that Cherokee has to offer. If you have a great idea, project, attraction or event, we want to hear from you!

Grant applications are accepted and awarded on a quarterly basis throughout the year. These events and projects must be within the city limits because the funding source is the Hotel/Motel Tax approved by voters and collected within the city limits.

The City Council has set aside a percentage of these revenues and has tasked the Hotel/Motel Tax Advisory Board to report back to them with recommendations for how these funds can be allocated to benefit tourism. The City Council makes the final decision.

Grant applications are available at Cherokee City Hall located at 416 W. Main St. and Cherokee Chamber of Commerce located at 201 W. Main St. Completed applications must be returned to City Hall no later than July 15, 2020.
