Fred D. Stieneke, 75, of rural Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, September 9, 2020 at Select Specialty Care in Sioux Falls, S.D.

 

Graveside memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, at 2 p.m. at the Afton Township Cemetery, rural Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor David Hall will officiate. It was Fred’s wish to be cremated. There will be no visitation. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with the arrangements. Fred was born on July 4, 1945 at Cherokee, Iowa to Roy & Vera (Mohror) Stieneke. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1963. He was married to Diana Larsen on June 6, 1965 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa.

 

Fred had farmed all of his life.  Along with farming he worked at several jobs, Wharton's Feed Store, Walnut Grove Feed, Opened up a CB Radio Shop, Had a straight truck that he hauled grain, cattle and hogs. Purchased a Semi Truck and worked for two or three companies as an Owner Operator trucking cross country. Then he got his own authority and hauled rock with a rock trailer. For a few years he delivered seed for a seed company by Calumet. After that he pulled a flatbed trailer and worked cross country again working for himself. Fred loved getting out on the road driving his semi and seeing the country and what was new and different. But farming was his first love!

 Fred enjoyed fishing, camping, snowmobiling trips to the Black Hills and Minnesota, motorcycle trips, attending any fairs or shows that had to do with farming, old tractors

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters Brenda Jean and Dawn Renae Stieneke, a sister Audrey Stieneke. Several Aunts and Uncles, Grandparents.

 

He is survived by his wife Diana of Cherokee, Iowa; his two children: Denise Stieneke of Cherokee, Iowa; Dana Stieneke of Cherokee, Iowa and his fiancé Melissa Bock; dog Toby and four granddogs. One Uncle, Rex Boatman of Waterloo, Iowa and Nieces and Nephews and several cousins, family and friends.
