At last week’s Cherokee County Board of Supervisors meeting, the matter of wasps in the Treasurer’s Office flew into the conversation and the question asked if there was any resolution.
Previously assigned to investigate the problem, County IT Director Stu Hogg and Emergency Management Director Justin Pritts reported they had replaced missing caulk around the windows and did not find any other potential entry points in the exterior of the courthouse.
If the caulking worked will probably not be known until next spring when wasps return in warmer weather.
At the prior weekly meeting, Hogg reported on behalf of the County’s Safety Committee about the continuing issue of wasps in the Treasurer’s office needing to be addressed.
Several attempts have been made over the years to remedy the situation, but it appears to be getting worse. Hogg suggested ways to determine where the problem is originating from and where the wasps may be entering the courthouse. The Supervisors said they would support any and all efforts to fix the problem.
