Warriors fall quickly to 2A #9-ranked Estherville, 15-0
ESTHERVILLE - The Alta-Aurelia baseball team traveled to face Class 2A #9-ranked Estherville on Thursday afternoon and fell 15-0 in four innings of play.
The Warriors couldn’t get anything going on the offensive end as the Midgets pitched a no-hitter. Estherville ran seven runs across in the bottom of the first, one in the second four in the third and three in the fourth to end it.
At the plate the Warriors were walked five times but struck out nine. Allen Brenner stole a pair of bases while Cale Brechwald stole one. In the field the team made only two errors on 16 total chances.
Brechwald made the start on the mound and only struck out one as he walked seven, allowed three hits, seven runs, three earned. Tanner Randall came in to pitch the remainder of the game and struck out two, walked two, hit one batter, allowed 10 hits and eight earned runs.
Estherville’s Owen Larson pitched all four innings for the Midgets as he threw a no-hitter as he struck out nine and walked only five.
The Warriors are now 1-2 and were scheduled to host Westwood on Monday. They will travel to face 0-1 Woodbury Central tonight at 7:30 p.m.
