McGee resigns from CPD

A Cherokee Police officer charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident after allegedly striking a 6-year-old girl at the intersection of North Roosevelt and Indian May 20th, has resigned his position.
The Iowa State Patrol charged Michael McGee, 52, with leaving the scene of an injury accident in connection with a pedestrian collision that occurred around 3:32 p.m. May 20.
An investigation by state patrol found McGee, off duty at the time of the accident, was traveling northbound on North Roosevelt in a pick-up truck and struck the girl in a crosswalk. McGee fled the scene and did not return, state patrol alleges.
An investigation into the incident continues.y.
