Cherokee’s Mongan competes at State Singles Tournament

IOWA CITY - Cherokee junior Kenna Mongan traveled down to Iowa City to compete in the Class 1A State Singles Tournament on Friday, May 27.

Mongan faced Alli Hagness from Columbus Catholic in the first round. Mongan fell 6-0 in the first set and 6-1 in the second set to lose 0-2, but moved on to the consolation side of the bracket.

There Mongans next opponent was Coryl Matheny of Glenwood. Mongan fought back hard but lost 6-3 in both sets to be eliminated from the tournament.

Mongan will be back next season for the Cherokee girls tennis team after a great season and State Tournament run this season.
