Darline M. Blount, 93, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on Monday evening, June 6, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.  Public visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. Services will be livestreamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website through the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions.

Darline was born on October 21, 1928 to John and Olive (Ovre) Owen at Madelia, Minnesota.  She attended Madelia High School, graduating in 1946.  She was married to Richard Woltman on October 8, 1948 and later to Viven Blount on October 4, 1968. 

She was a registered nurse working as the owner of the Elm Street Nursing Home, at Camelback Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and at the M.H.I. in Cherokee, Iowa for about 30 years.

She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In her free time she enjoyed reading and traveling, sitting around the pool in her backyard, spending time with family and friends, babysitting her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Viven, sister Betty Hage, brother Willis Owen, stepson Herman Woltman, nephew Johnny Hage, niece Kristen Aldridge, great granddaughter Alexa Brewster, and stepdaughter Linda Zembsch.

Left to cherish Darline’s memories are her children, Rick (Crystal) Woltman of Cherokee, Iowa, Jo (Jim) Johnson of Cherokee, Iowa, and Jeanie Woltman of Cherokee, Iowa; stepson Dick (Margel) Woltman of Courtland, Minnesota; stepdaughter Lana Sargent of Harlan, Iowa; eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Lenore Owen of Sparks, Nevada; several step grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.
