Jeanne F. Jones, 96, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Cherokee Specialty Care in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa.  Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa.  Public visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  The service will be livestreamed on the Boothby Funeral Home website through the assistance of Fuller Digital Solutions. Jeanne was born on December 25, 1925 to Wallace and Beulah (Parcel) Robinson at Lawton, Iowa.  She attended Lawton Schools, graduating in 1943.  She was united in marriage to Gerald Jones on October 5, 1946 at Dakota City, Iowa, together they had eight children. 

She worked at Sioux Valley Hospital for 17 years.  She and her husband, Gerald operated Meyer’s Tap in Cherokee from 1975-1987. Jeanne also worked at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for 13 years before her retirement in 2009.

Jeanne was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Group. She also was a part of the Auxillary at the Cherokee Villa and volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, needle work, traveling, reading and putting together puzzles.  Jeanne loved attending grandchildren’s activities and spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald in 1994; son Jim Jones; grandson Shane Melville; brothers Harold (Adeline) Robinson, Duane (Ilene) Robinson, and Dale (Betty) Robinson; sisters Hattie (Lowell) Jones, Marjorie (Johnny) Nichols, Florence (Dean) Boettger, and JoAnn (Dale) Gunsolly; son-in-law, Greg Hope; sister-in-law Donna Robinson;  brother-in-law Earl Degan.

Left to cherish Jeanne’s memory are her seven children, Wanita Hope of Amarillo, Texas, Mona (Dennis) Cargin of Amarillo, Texas, Becky (Tom) Ruth of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Betty (Jim) Harman of Cherokee, Iowa, Jerry (Marie) Jones of Cherokee, Iowa; Kris (Jeff) Peters of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and  Karla (Kevin) Wilkie of Cherokee, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; siblings, Bedford  Robinson of Lawton, Iowa, Pert Degan of Moville, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
