South O達rien baseball drops two road games earlier this week

The South O達rien baseball team took a harsh 14-4 loss to West Sioux on Monday before falling to Ridge View in a close 9-8 contest.

On Monday the Wolverines got three runs in the first before West Sioux tied it up in the bottom half of the inning and added four more in the second to take the lead. South O達rien pushed one more across in the third but the Falcons responded with a pair of runs in each the third and fourth before finishing things off with three runs in the fifth.

The Wolverines went hitless in the game but picked up an RBI off five walks and being hit by pitches twice while striking out six times. Sophomore Mitchell Enger got the RBI while Senior Pete Bottjen scored two runs and juniors Boston Riedemann and Dain Moermond scored a run each.

Sophomore Ben Woodall pitched the first three innings of play and struck out three, allowed 10 hits, seven runs, four earned, and hit two batter. Riedemann worked on the mound for just over an inning and allowed two hits, seven runs, six earned, walked five and hit three batters. The team made four errors on 24 total chances in the field.

On Tuesday the Wolverines traveled to face the Raptors and fell 9-8. Stats and details for that game are in the Ridge View story.

South O達rien is now 1-8 and was scheduled to host 5-6 Gehlen Catholic on Wednesday. They will travel to face 8-6 Akron-Westfield tonight at 5:30 p.m.
