Cherokee softball shut out by Storm Lake in Lakes Conference match
STORM LAKE - The Cherokee softball team suffered a 6-0 loss at Storm Lake in Lakes Conference play on Monday night.
The host Tornadoes put up two runs in the first and three in the second before tallying a final run in the fourth while holding the Braves off home plate across all seven innings.
The Braves only hit two singles in the match while walking twice and striking out 10 times. Sophomore Megan Courtright and senior Dena Claycamp each hit a single for the team to record the two hits.
Sophomore Maddy Courtright pitched all six innings and struck out eight, allowed seven hits, six runs, three earned, and walked one. The team made only two errors in the field off 23 total chances.
The Braves are now 2-12 overall, 0-4 in the Lakes Conference, and were scheduled to travel to face Western Christian on Wednesday and MOC-Floyd Valley on Thursday. They will travel to face Class 3A #14-ranked 15-5 Spirit Lake on Monday at 7 p.m.
