Ridge View girls tumble in overtime

HOLSTEIN – The Ridge View girls dropped a hard-fought 57-53 overtime game against Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto here Friday night in Western Valley Conference basketball action.

Chelsea Clayton paced the host Raptors with 18 points, while younger sister Egypt tallied 14 and a game-high 10 rebounds for a nifty double-double. Victoria Andresen scored eight for Ridge View.

Three Raptors fouled out in the foul-plagued game, including both Claytons and Jessica Mathes, as Ridge View had 26 fouls whistled on them and shot 36 free throws themselves, sinking 21 of those.

The Raptors sank 18-71 field goals for a frigid 25 percent, including a 4-9 effort from the three-point line.

Mathes led Ridge View in assists with four and in steals with three.

The Ridge View girls now take a holiday break and resume play Jan. 5 in a WVC boy-girl doubleheader at Kingsley-Pierson.
