The MMCRU volleyball team hosted Kingsley-Pierson in Remsen on Thursday and took a 3-1 win before traveling to Ridge View to compete in a tournament where they fell 2-0 to East Sac County and beat Woodbury Central 2-0.
On Thursday the Royals took a 25-14 set one victory and fought hard for a 25-23 set two win. They looked to close out the match, but the Panthers wouldn’t give up and took a 30-28 set three victory. They finished the job in the fourth set and won 25-19 to take the match 3-1.
The offense had 33 kills and 30 assists in the match. Senior Kora Alesch led the attack wit h10 kills while senior Avery Schlenger had nine. Senior Isabelle Olson had 16 assists while junior Jadyn Young had 12.
The defense had 68 digs, led by Alesch with 14 while Olson had 13. The team served up 14 aces on 89 competed serves off 102 attempts for an 87.3 percent serve efficiency. Junior Kennedy Tentinger had five aces off 16-of-20 serving. Young, Alesch, Olson and senior Hannah Neddermeyer had two aces each while Schlenger had one.
On Saturday the team fell 2-0 to East Sac County. The Raiders took a 21-16 set one win and the Royals fought back in set two, but the Raiders still won 21-19 to sweep the match. The Royals then face Woodbury Central and won 2-0. They took the first set 21-15 and the second 21-19.
MMCRU is now 2-2 and was scheduled to face Akron-Westfield on Tuesday. They will host 2-0 Hinton on Thursday at 7 p.m.
