SERGEANT BLUFF – River Valley’s girls placed third in Class B in last week’s Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriorette Relays here, won by Westwood with 157 points.
Whiting was second with 131, followed by River Valley 90, Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove 54, and an abbreviated three-member Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn squad 52.
The River Valley girls notched five firsts for their solid showing, with Brittny Shropshire winning the 100 meter hurdles in 16.51, and double winner Brittany Hunwardsen winning the 800 meters in 2:57, and the 3000 meters in 14.02.
The Wolverines also claimed two relays, with Shropshire, Lexie Chester, Mackenzie Fitch, and Kari Ludvigson winning the distance medley in 4:47; and Chester, Brandi Morrow, Fitch, and Ludvigson winning the sprint medley in a time of 2:10.
RV seconds went to Fitch with a 12-9 1/2 long jump; the 4×100 relay of Chester, Hunwardsen, Fitch, and MacKenzie King timed in 59.68; and the shuttle hurdle relay of King, Ludvigson, Chester, and Shropshire clocked in 1:19.
Shropshire placed third in the 200 meters in 30.52, and King was third in the 400 hurdles in 1:28.
MMC entered just three girls, with triple winner Erica Dreckman winning the 100 meters in 12.65, the 200 meters in 27.04, and the 400 meters in 1:03; Taylor Schneider second in the discus with a 79-10 throw and fifth in the shot put with a 27-1/2 effort; and Brandi Orr third in the discus with a 77-9 throw and third in the shot put with a 27-9 1/4 heave.
The MMC team was limited by injuries and a high school concert scheduling conflict.
