4H Spotlight

It is that time of the year. Little ones around the world are writing letters and wish lists to the Big Guy in the Red Suit. Santa is busy making his list and checking it twice. The elves are busy building and wrapping all of Santa’s special deliveries. Grandmas and moms have been baking in a flurry of activity. Even the weatherman has been busy (maybe too busy) to ensure a white Christmas for all.

4-H’ers can take a few lessons from Santa. During the break from school, 4-H’ers could start making a list of the different projects they would like to do for the county fair. Don’t worry about checking it twice. That can be done in May. Maybe by then, something else will have peak your interest and you will have another idea for a project. Once you have decided, get busy making those projects. Even the elves at the North Pole don’t wait until Thanksgiving to start making the toys for all the boys and girls, they work year round.

Here at the Extension Office we have been busy planning for 2010. Can you believe we have even been talking and thinking about the county fair? We have been busy brainstorming workshop ideas that will take place later this winter.

During the holiday break from school will be a busy time for 4-H’ers. For those in their Senior year, and counting the days till Graduation, they will be busy applying for scholarships. If your senior hasn’t done so, have them stop by the Extension Office for a list of the available scholarships. We of course have the Beef Weigh In on Tuesday, Dec. 29th at the Cherokee County Fair grounds.

We continue to accept enrollments into the 4-H program. We welcome you into our 4-H family. All of us at Cherokee County Extension wish for you and your family the best of the Holiday Season. Be sure to take the time to enjoy the company of loved ones and the sights and sounds of the season.

Happy Holidays everyone. . .
