Cherokee’s 25th annual Lighted Christmas Parade was a successful celebration on Thursday, Dec. 5. This year’s grand marshal was Sarah Tracy of the Iowa DOT, who raised over $1,000 for Cherokee food banks and was dubbed the winner of the Cherokee Chamber’s Celebrity Scrooge contest.
Santa closed out the parade by waving and smiling to the children and their families who lined several blocks along Main Street in Cherokee. There are several opportunities to visit Santa in the upcoming days.
Santa will be at Sanford Museum and Planetarium on Sundays, Dec. 14 and 22, from 2-4 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 19, from 5-7 p.m. You can find him at the Quimby Fire Station this Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
He will appear at Marcus Hometown Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 14, in their lighted parade and at the community center. He will be at Sutherland’s Hometown Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Visit with Santa at Mud on Main coffee shop in Cherokee on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 3:30-5 p.m. Lastly, Santa will be at Cherokee’s Historic Depot in the caboose on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
