Cheryll D. (Butler) Jacobson, 73, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Cherokee, Iowa, originally of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Father Daniel Rupp will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Cheryll was born on November 10, 1949 to Paul and Bernice (Johnson) Butler at Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux City East High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Philip Jacobson on June 8, 1968 in Sioux City, Iowa.
She worked as a Matron at the Cherokee Police Department for two years and then as a secretary at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute from 1980 until her retirement on May 13, 2010.
Cheryll was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, Iowa.
Cheryll enjoyed hunting, fishing, genealogy, traveling, puzzles, reading, working in the yard and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul Butler, and sister Delores Jarman.
Cheryll is survived by her husband, Philip of Onawa, Iowa; children, Lisa Martinez of Van Meter, Iowa and Scott (Mercedes Ramos) Jacobson of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Nathan Martinez and Jacob Martinez of Van Meter, Iowa and Gabriel Jacobson and Lucas Jacobson of Austin, Texas; also several nieces and nephews.
