Debra Jean Birtwell passed away on February 19, 2023 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, in Lincoln, Nebraska, after a long illness. Debra was born on March 5, 1957 in Oceanside, California at Camp Pendleton to Daniel and Jean (Chancellor) Birtwell. She grew up in the Cherokee area and graduated with the class of 1975. After graduation, she moved to Omaha and worked various jobs. She was married to Leslie (Redd) Mann on July 7, 1982 in Cherokee and to this union, one daughter was born.
Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is providing her final arrangements. There will be no visitation and a private graveside service will be held later with burial in the Cedar Cemetery, at Larrabee, Iowa.
Debra has resided at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital for many years due to her health and the nurses and staff became her second family. They took care of her as one of their own and she made many good memories and friends there. She had many favorite nurses, especially her Kayla, an adopted daughter to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and a brother in infancy Douglas Birtwell.
Debra is survived by a sister, Diana (Tim) Knaack and a brother, Daniel Birtwell, all of Cherokee. She has one daughter, Harmony Mann, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild, in the Omaha area.
