Diane S. Halstrom

DIANE S. HALSTROM, 69, of rural Meriden, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Mercy One Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church.  Pastor Andy Brown will officiate.  Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at rural Meriden, Iowa.  Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.  Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Diane was born on October 22, 1955 to Albert and Mildred (Hughes) Kleihauer at LeMars, Iowa.  She graduated from Washington High School in 1974.  She enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1975 to 1979, achieving the rank of E5.  She then went in to the Air Guard at Sioux City for two and half years.  She earned her registered nurse degree from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City, Iowa. 

She was united in marriage on November 1, 1986 to Dean Halstrom at Oakdale Evangelical Free Church. 

Diane worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years and retired from Cherokee Regional Medical Center in 2018. 

She was a member of the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church. 

In her free time, she enjoyed camping, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family. 

Diane was preceded in death by her father Albert Kleihauer, brother Mark Kleihauer, and brother-in-law Jim Smith. 

Diane will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Dean Halstrom of Meriden, Iowa; children, Jason (Allison) Michael of LeMars, Iowa, Aaron (Diana) Halstrom of Sioux City, Iowa, and Alan Halstrom of Meriden, Iowa; one granddaughter, Emma Michael of LeMars, Iowa; mother Mildred Kleihauer of Cherokee, Iowa;  sisters Lynette (Patrick) Hyndman of Cherokee, Iowa and Jolene Smith of Correctionville, Iowa.
