James Lee Naffziger

James Lee Naffziger, age 92 of Cherokee, IA, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, IA. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Father Dan Rupp will officiate. Burial will take place at Memorial Garden’s Cemetery in Cheyenne, WY, at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. James Lee Naffziger, the son of Ralph and Hazel Naffziger, was born September 4, 1932, in Peoria, Illinois. His childhood years were spent in Illinois, Wyoming, and Colorado. He graduated from high school while residing in Pierce, CO.

Following high school, Jim went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked there for over 40 years in Cheyenne, Wyoming until his retirement.

Jim was united in marriage to Glenna Baker. To this union, one daughter Kimberly was born. Following Glenna’s passing on January 8, 2001, he was married to Colette Sivinski, in Cherokee, IA, on September 2, 2005.

Together they spent their winters in Casa Grande, AZ and their summers traveling and spending time in Cherokee, IA. He enjoyed wood working and adult coloring, which he was very good at. He also enjoyed watching football games and playing golf. He loved playing ponytail canasta with friends.

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Jim passed away at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, IA, at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenna Naffziger; his parents, Ralph and Hazel (Klopp) Naffziger; siblings, Donna Engh, Stanley Naffziger, Merlin “Dutch” Naffziger, Darrell Naffziger, Larry Naffziger, and Nancy Rhoads.

He will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Colette Sivinski of Cherokee, IA; and her four children, Lynda (Steve) Best, Jeff (Nancy) Sivinski, Kristi Holton, and Joel (Penny) Sivinski; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his daughter, Kimberly Zaccagnini of Dallas, TX, granddaughters, Alicia (Tom) Finan of Dallas, TX, and Ashley Jo Zaccagnini of Dallas, TX, and; one great-grandson, Lucas Michael Finan; one brother, Dean Naffziger; and countless nieces, nephews, not to mention other relatives and friends.
