KTIVs Jacob Howard visits Cherokee second grade

Posted

KTIV’s First Alert, Meteorologist, Jacob Howard, paid CES 2nd grade classrooms a visit on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The students learned about the causes of many types of weather. Some interesting questions asked of Jacob were; “How hot is lightning?“ 10x hotter than the sun.“How do we get rain?”  Low pressure systems move in from the south and collide with colder temperatures causing rain to occur. “Why did you want to meteorologist?“ Howard was affected by Hurricane Katrina where there were 125–150 MPH winds and became interested in weather. Also, he really wants to experience snow as he grew up in Mississippi and it didn’t snow there.

The students really enjoyed their visit, especially Jacob Howard fan, Jacob Koch!
