Letter to the Editor: Skate Park Committee

The Cherokee Skate Park Committee wants to express their sincere appreciation to everyone for making the recent grand opening of the new skate park a reality! We wish to thank the Iowa Dept. of Natural Resources for an Iowa Land and Water Conservation grant award in the amount of $100,000, the Wellmark Foundation for a $75,000 grant award, the Erlandson Foundation for their contribution of $35,000, MidAmerican Energy Foundation for a $10,000 grant award, the Cherokee County Legacy Foundation for a total of $7,000 awarded over the last two years, and an Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative grant in the amount of $2,000. We also want to thank our local businesses, industries and government partners that made generous contributions to our skate park project, including area youth skaters who helped with fundraising efforts. We would not be here today without their help, nor the help of the many, many individuals who also contributed. A huge thank you to each and every one who donated to this project! A donor appreciation sign with the names of those that contributed $1,000 or more, will be located at this site, similar to the one located along Magnetic Trail.
