Obituary: Susan (Su) Hazelton, 78 of Ankeny passed away peacefully, July 5, 2024. Su was born January 26, 1946, in Cherokee to Joseph and Lorraine Dooley. Su loved life, her husband, her family, and her grandchildren dearly. She was always keeping busy going or watching NHRA races, cheering on the Hawkeyes, or watching her grandchildren. Su is survived by her husband Ed, her sister Louise (Beryl), her daughter Rene (Scott), and her grandchildren William (Maire) Shepard, Matthew Shepard, Katherine Shepard, and great grand daughter Noah Shepard, and loving family and friends. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, her beautiful smile and her love of life. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lorraine Dooley and brother William Dooley. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mill Pond for exceptional care of Su during her time there. Memorials can be sent to 2550 Long Avenue, Van Meter, Iowa 50261. The memorials will be forwarded to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Iowa.
