Arrest for harassment

On August 23 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 218 S. Main Street in Quimby on reports of harassment. Victim Christopher Kirchner of Alta reported to law enforcement that Allison Lynch of Galva sent explicit him explicit photographs. A warrant was issued and Lynch was subsequently arrested for harassment, a simple misdemeanor. 

Two-vehicle Collision in Cherokee

On Tuesday, September 12 around 10:50 am there was a two-vehicle accident at East Indian and North 2nd Street. Lloyd Keck was traveling northbound on 2nd Street, while Lloyd Woltman was crossing North 2nd to continue to travel eastbound on Indian Street. Keck failed to stop at the red light, which caused him to collide with the passenger side of Woltman’s vehicle. The airbag did deploy on Woltman. Both Keck and Woltman were taken to Cherokee Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment of unknown injuries. Cherokee Police Department, Cherokee Fire Department, and Cherokee Regional Medical Center assisted with this call as well as High Country to tow both vehicles. Lloyd Keck was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. 

Arrested for OWI 3rd offense

On September 14 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at Hy-Vee Warehouse on the report of an intoxicated subject. Gatwech Tut, 46, of Storm Lake was discovered to have driven to the warehouse intoxicated. He was jailed for OWI 3rd offense and driving while barred. 

Single-vehicle rollover

On September 15 at 5:06 am Margaret Korleski, 68, of Aurelia, was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at C44 and A Avenue and found Korleski’s vehicle, a KIA Sportage, overturned in the ditch. Korleski had to be extricated by mechanical means and was transported to CRMC by Marcus Ambulance for suspected minor injuries. Korleski was given both alcohol and blood tests to determine sobriety. She was cited for failure to maintain control and the incident remains under investigation. 

Collision with deer

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle accident on September 16 at 12:50 am on Highway 3 just west of T Avenue in rural Cherokee. Jacinto Pantoja, 51, of Alta was driving eastbound when a deer emerged from the North ditch, striking his vehicle. The vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages and was able to be driven away from the scene. No injuries or citations were reported.
