Memorial services for Ronald L. Baldner, 83, of Cherokee will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church, at the intersection of
C16 & L51, rural Meriden, with Pastor Tyler Stauffer officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 until 11:00 at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of arrangements.
Ronald Larry Baldner was born March 6, 1939 the son of Lawrence Fred and Gladiolus Gilbertson Baldner in Creston, IA. He received his education in Cherokee and attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, for two years. On November 1, 1961 Ronald entered the US Army at Sioux Falls, SD, and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1963 at Ft. Lewis, Washington. On September 5, 1964 Ronald married Sharri Cathryn Stutz in Aurelia, IA. He worked for the Illinois Central Gulf railroad as a conductor/brakeman for twenty six years, and at Cherokee Mental Health Institute for ten years. He enjoyed golf and was a Steeler’s fan.
Ronald died Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Cherokee Reginal Medical Center in Cherokee, IA.
Preceding Ronald in death were his parents and one uncle, George Baldner.
Survivors include: his wife Sharri of Cherokee, one daughter, Heidi Strom of Brooklyn Park, MN, and two sons and their wives; Matthew and Jennifer Baldner and Joshua and Beth Baldner all of Broomfield, CO. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Luke Strom, Ethan Strom, Owen Baldner and Nick Cully, Alexandra Baldner, Linnea Baldner, and Jacob Baldner, and other relatives and friends.
