Royal girls track sees large group of newcomers

The MMCRU girls track team has a large group of freshmen coming in to reinforce their experienced runners as head coach Lonnie Boekhout returns to lead the team.

Returning for the Royals are Natalie Plagman in the sprints, Olivie Spenner as a discus thrower, Audrey Etter in the distance events, Autumn Sanow, Ashley Hurtado, Sophia Otter and Rylie Spenner as throwers, and Patience Nissen and Riley Groves as hurdlers.

Newcomers for the team are sophomore transfer Alisa Pajazetovic in the middle distance events and freshman Rylee Smith, Kierra Cosgrove-Eide, Brielle Lux and Aleah Lux in the middle distance events, Chloe Alesch in the throwing events, Kara Moos and Aly Olson in the hurdles, Tia Tentinger in the high jump and sprints, Aubrey Dirks and Ella Draper in the sprints, Annika Juhl in the distance events and Ava Prescott in the sprints and throwing events.

Coach Boekhout says the goals for this season are to fill every event in most meets, compete for team titles at smaller meets, improve times and distances every time out and compete with class and integrity. Looking at the War Eagle Conference, Boekhout said, "The War Eagle Conference is one of the better small school track and field conferences in the state and we feel like our depth can help compete against these schools."
