Storm Lake Public Library Hosting Poetry Reading—Poets and Poetry Fans Wanted!

The Storm Lake Public Library will host a poetry reading on Saturday, April 6 at 10:30 AM in celebration of National Poetry Month 2024.  There is still time to sign up to read original or favorite poems!  Anyone who has a poem they would like to share should email or call Storm Lake Public Library at 732-8026 and leave a message for Aimee. And of course everyone is welcome to join the audience for the reading!
Ashley WolfTornabane and Matthew Marroquín will be sharing poetry as part of the program.  Ashley is a Storm Laker, who has had poems selected for publication in “Lyrical Iowa” the annual publication of the Iowa Poetry Association the last two years. Storm Lake High School and BVU alum, Matthew Marroquín is a spoken word poet and artist, now living and performing on the East Coast will also be joining the program via Zoom to share some of his poems. Marilyn Baszcynski, editor of the Iowa Poetry Association (IPA) will also be zooming in to share some poetry and information about IPA .  There will be door prizes and refreshments provided as well. The Community Poetry Reading is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Storm Lake Public Library.
