Nonprofit, government, and education professionals who want to learn about grant writing or improve their grant proposals can attend one or both of the grant writing programs offered in Cherokee, Iowa, this fall.

Cherokee Area Economic Development and Cherokee County Extension and Outreach sponsor the workshops.

Grant Writing 101

Grant Writing 101 is designed for those who are new to grant writing or need a refresher.

It will provide a thorough overview of the entire grant writing process, from finding appropriate grant opportunities to submitting a successful grant application.

Grant writing 101 will be held on Thursday, September 10th, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Grant Proposal Boot Camp

Grant Proposal Boot Camp is a six-hour workshop designed for participants with some prior grant writing experience or who have already attended Grant Writing 101.

It is best suited to participants who bring a project idea and want support and feedback as they develop a grant proposal.

During the workshop, attendees will work on writing executive summaries, creating measurable goals and objectives, completing logic models, and developing evaluation plans.

The Grant Proposal Boot Camp workshop is broken into two sessions, both from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, October 19th, and Tuesday, October 20th.

“Grant writing requires clarity and alignment between a project’s goals, methods, and expected outcomes, and those of the targeted funder,” said Lindsay Henderson, the workshop’s instructor. Lindsay Henderson is a community and economic development extension specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Workshop location:

All workshops are held at Cherokee County Extension and Outreach, located at 209 Centennial Dr, Cherokee, IA 51012.
