AMES, IA – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering an educational program to help Iowans recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and learn how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. “Question. Persuade. Refer.” will be offered at the Marcus Community Center, 319 N Main St., Marcus, IA on November 12 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
“Through QPR training, you’ll learn how to recognize the warning signals that someone may be struggling and how to ask someone whether they are thinking about suicide,” said Mackenzie Schelling, Health and Human Sciences Educator. “You’ll also learn how to persuade someone to get help and how to refer them to appropriate help.”
QPR is a suicide prevention program that teaches participants three steps to help save a life from suicide. This program is being offered at no cost thanks to sponsorship from the Cherokee County Suicide Coalition. Registration is required by November 7. Register online at go.iastate.edu/OPI0UX.
