Thursday, July 10 Meeting
So you think winning the lottery is a big deal. Not if you are a member of the Aurelia Kiwanis Club. Wow, it’s like winning it every Thursday morning, and today was proof positive.
Amy blew the doors off the Community Center with her great breakfast. Week after week you can’t believe the fine cuisine.
Today we were treated to two different kinds of brownies. One was labeled “hot”. Never tasted anything like that before.
You didn’t because you were not there. Ha, ha. Thanks again Amy. You are the best chef ever.
Then we learned how to put 100 matematicians in a room that only holds 99. You carry the one. Yikes. Education at it’s finest.
Our speaker for the day was Carissa Harvey. She is from Fort Dodge, and is our Coach for the Aurelia Hometown Pride Program. This program is designed to help smaller communities improve and beautify their towns. Be it murals, planting trees, welcome signs, or what ever the community thinks would improve the attractiveness of there town. So we are open to any and all ideas.
Our initial project is called Tress for Kids. She is working to get a $2500.00 grant to get trees for Aurelia that could be planted in any property owners right-of -way for free. You don’t even have to plant it. That’s what the kids do. So if interested let us know.
Think I’ll try to plant 200. Yikes.
Seems funny we do all these great things for our kids and community and we haven’t had a new member in months.
I can think of at least 50 people in the Aurelia community that really care about kids and Aurelia. Let me know what we are doing wrong to keep you away. We can always use new people with new ideas.
Carissa then went into detail in many other aspects of the program that you don’t get to know, and you know why.
During our business meeting we decided to open the Community Center during the Car Show and Family Day.
There will be a big screen tv showing the Iowa State-Iowa game, and food will also be available.
Other than that our business was our business and not yours.
Hey, check out the three new trees planted in the Walking Path Complex. More on that next week.
Have a great week. Hugs, hugs.
NEXT MEETING: Thursday, July 24, at 7 a.m. at Aurelia Community Center.
