Letter to the Editor: Veterans, consider continuing your service

Are you a Military Veteran searching for a way to continue your honored service to our community? I encourage you to consider an opportunity to volunteer with the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and/or the American Legion. A few hours of your time a month or a year — you decide — are welcomed. Some of the ways local Veterans continue to serve include honoring deceased Veterans with Military Rites, participating in an annual Day of Service, participate in the Color Guard to promote patriotism during local school events and parades as well as assisting local Veterans with various needs.

For more information on ways to continue your service, contact Elizabeth Johnson at 712-221-7554 or Ron Honsbruch at 712-229-7087.

Thank you for your service!

Elizabeth Johnson, Adjutant, VFW Post 2253, Cherokee
