MMCRU Staff Interview

By Christian Lowden

This week I interviewed Mrs. Anita Penning who is the administrative assistant in the MMCRU High School office. When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Penning replied, “I enjoy seeing all the students and working with the staff.” When Penning is not working, she enjoys spending time with her friends, reading, photography, and traveling. Penning has two daughters, Audra and Andrea, who both graduated from MMCRU. She has been working with our school for 4 years, and hope she continues as we appreciate all she does for us.

When asked what his favorite class is, Grage replied, “Heavy Mechanics because we get to work on heavy equipment like tractors, trucks, forklifts, and skid steers.” He enjoys getting to take apart and rebuild engines, and learn about the industrial trades. Grage plans on attending Northwest Iowa Community College where he will study diesel mechanics.

Xander Teninger is a senior at MMCRU High School. Tentinger is still undecided on where he plans to attend college, but intends to compete in track and field. He plans to major in marketing as he has been involved in all the accounting classes that MMCRU offers. Throughout his high school career, Tentinger has been involved in track and field, basketball, and baseball. He also has been working at Gengler Feed, in Remsen IA. Best of luck to you and your future.

MMCRU Senior Spotlight: Ellie Durkee

By Patience Nissen-Teepe

Ellie Durkee is a senior at MMCRU High School. Her favorite high school memory is being a part of the band throughout her high school career. Durkee enjoys spending time with her family, and her pets. Durkee plans to attend college and major in elementary education. She has applied at two different schools; Northwestern and Dordt. When asked to share advice to the underclassmen and upcoming high schoolers, Durkee replied, “Cherish every moment because high school goes by faster than you think.”
