Quimby Public Library announces new hours, books

Posted

What’s new at the Library? Well, we have new hours. We’re open Monday and Wednesday 2 to 6, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1 to 5, and closed Saturday.

We have the following new books: Vanished in Vermillion by Lou Raguse, Beach Vibes by Susan Mallery, Cruel Summer by Maisy Yates, The God of the Woods by Liz Moore, Silver Girl and Summerland both by Elin Hilderbrand, The Boxcar Librarian by Brianna Labuskes and Finding Flora by Elinor Florence. Librarian Linda’s pick of the month is The Seed Keeper by Diane Wilson. We have new children’s books: Carl Corn, Have You Heard?, and Cows With Bangs, both are just great books. You can check out our whole catalog online at https://quimbypl.booksys.net/. Just click on the blue display tab, which will take you to the home page. You can search authors and titles, and read a synopsis of each book you are interested in.

We’ve had several fun story times for the kids, including Bethany’s program with Cajon drums, Madison from Iowa State Extension Office with “Level Up at the Library” with building materials, and Laura, naturalist from Cherokee Co. Conservation, with nature’s food chains. We just visited the Quimby Fire Department for a tour this week. On July 30, Siouxland Ag in the Classroom will visit with the program “Farming in a Glove.”

On Aug. 6, Jake, artist extraordinaire, will have an art program, and on Aug. 13, Karla will visit from Cherokee Farm Bureau with the book “Millie Fleur’s Poison Garden.” Story Time is at 3:00.

Tuesday afternoons at 2:00, our crafters meet for an afternoon of crafts and visiting. Bring any craft you are working on and join in on the fun!

Mark your calendars for Aug. 17. The Friends of the Quimby Library is hosting an ice cream social fundraiser for the library. A flyer with more information will be posted on the Friends’ Facebook page. Also, check out the Library’s Facebook page for Library news and pictures. Until next time, keep on reading!
