Iowa Free Fishing Days

Posted

As temps rise and everyone is getting ready for summertime activities, a great thing to try this year is fishing! Iowa’s Free Fishing Days are June 6, 7 and 8 and on those days, fishing is allowed without a license.

The City of Cherokee is blessed to have access to a local body of water full of fish — Spring Lake at Koser Spring Lake Park! This 18-acre lake has water access from 75% of the shoreline and an abundance of fish in the shallows— a perfect opportunity for new anglers to try their hand at catching a bluegill or largemouth bass.

Prospective fisherman will see great results with a #8 hook and bread or other soft bait suspended a foot below a one inch bobber, or casting a small (1/32nd oz) spinnerbait parallel to the shore and steadily retrieved.
